1. Try to be aware during the mundane daily tasks. Washing the dishes? Concentrate on your breathing and on each dish that you wash. You can also use this time to focus on breathing.
2. Waiting in line at the supermarket? Take time to feel your feet on the floor and listen to your surroundings. What are you hearing, seeing and smelling? Don’t analyze, just observe.
3. Pick an object or area in your home as a reminder to be mindful. This could be the doorway to your bedroom, when you touch your front door or even your favorite coffee mug.
Mindfulness doesn’t have to be difficult or taxing. In fact, you can do it in short bursts throughout the day and still get the same benefits. Meditation and focused breathing are also great to incorporate into your daily mindfulness routine. Stick with it, practice daily, and soon you will experience the benefits of reduced stress and anxiety!
